Your Local Walmart May Look Very Different Soon

Shoppers love Walmart's new facelift, especially the stylish furniture displays, video boards, and high-tech refrigerated areas.

Walmart will invest nearly $55 million in 12 Virginia "interactive store" designs this year. Remodeled storefronts will offer pick-up, delivery,

and Express delivery in under two hours. Walmart+ membership will also be expanded. One Roanoke and one Lynchburg store are being renovated.

Before this remodeling, Walmart renovated an Albuquerque, N.M., store from July to April last year. The new look debuted in the Albuquerque Walmart.

In January, the "incubator" location for the new store concept, "Time Well Spent," was revealed in Springdale, Ark. The term describes how it

imagines visitors perusing the store. Walmart even updated its store lighting to encourage people to stay longer.

While locations vary, the new Walmart store has bolder signage, a mobile app to educate consumers, digital displays with QR codes, and self-checkout kiosks.

According to The Albuquerque Journal, Walmart manager Eloy Baca has seen customers like the new store design.
