U.S. National Parks To Visit With Your Dog

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

You and your dog should visit Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio to hike and enjoy the surroundings. The park's 125 miles of well-maintained trails allow leashed pets.

Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park in Maine offers stunning vistas with your dog. The park's website says you may hike 100 miles, ride 45 miles, and camp at Blackwoods, Seawall, and Schoodic Woods.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison

One of the most beautiful yet underappreciated NPS parks, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison lies hidden in Southwest Colorado. The pup will love exploring the alpine ecosystem with its many fauna and breathtaking sights.

White Sands National Park

White Sands National Park in New Mexico is another puppy paradise. "Like no place else on earth," this park has something for everyone. Two-legged or four-legged, White Sands is a vast playground. Except for the visitor center, the park is dog-friendly.

Petrified Forest National Park

Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona is a great place to take your dog for a hike or a picturesque drive. Petrified Forest allows dogs on backcountry routes and paved roads, but not inside buildings.

You and your best friend can explore the park's vivid badlands and millennia-old fossilized wood. Rangers offer pooches snacks!

Grand Canyon National Park

Why not see the Grand Canyon with a friend? Steve Morrow, Mather Point, Yavapai Point, and Grand Canyon Village allow dogs. Summer heat might impact your dog.

If it's too hot or you wish to visit a non-pet-friendly portion of the park, the Grand Canyon Kennel is open year-round to board your dog.

New River Gorge National Park

New River Gorge National Park—home to North America's oldest river—is a puppy paradise in West Virginia. All paths in America's newest national park and preserve allow dogs of all colors and sizes.
