McDonald's Is Making a Big Change To Its Drink Stations

Fans of McDonald's, prepare. The fast-food chain plans to revamp how consumers buy soft drinks nationwide.

According to an email from a corporate official, QSR Web revealed late last week that McDonald's will phase out self-serve beverage kiosks in its

US dining rooms. Since the shift is expected to finish in 2032, customers will have plenty of time to adjust. Self-serve drink stations will be discontinued

However, personnel fill drinks for drive-thru and McDonald's app orders, so the absence of self-serve stations won't affect them.

McDonald's employees and customers will have a more consistent experience regardless of where and how they purchase their food, according to QSR Web.

This week, The State Journal-Register reported that several Illinois stores had begun the change.

McDonald's has made other important changes this year. In April, the chain announced considerable changes to its Big Mac, McDouble, classic cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, and hamburger.

Softer toasted buns, frying onions directly on burger patties for a "juicier, caramelized flavor," maximum cheese meltiness, and more trademark sauce on Big Macs are among the modifications

By 2024, McDonald's will update all US outlets .In late July, the chain unveiled plans for a new restaurant concept dubbed after CosMc, a 1980s and 1990s commercial mascot with six arms

In yesterday's July earnings call, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said CosMc's will be a "compact format concept with all the DNA of McDonald's but its own unique personality
