Air-Fryer Nashville Hot Chicken

Ingredients

– 2 tablespoons dill pickle juice, divided – 2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce, divided – 1 teaspoon salt, divided – 2 pounds chicken tenderloins – 1 cup all-purpose flour – 1/2 teaspoon pepper

– 1 large egg – 1/2 cup buttermilk – Cooking spray – 1/2 cup olive oil – 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper – 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon paprika – 1 teaspoon chili powder – 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder – Dill pickle slices

Directions

1.  Mix 1 tablespoon pickle juice, 1 tablespoon hot sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl or shallow dish. Add chicken and coat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Discard marinade from chicken.

2. Start the air fryer at 375°. Mix flour, another 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl. Whisk egg, buttermilk, and remaining 1 tablespoon pickle juice and 1 tablespoon spicy sauce in another shallow basin.

3. Dust chicken on both sides with flour and shake off excess. Egg mixture, then flour mixture.

4. Spray cooking spray on a well-greased air-fryer basket tray and place chicken in a single layer in batches. Cook for 5-6 minutes till golden. Turn and spray. Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
