Sales of This New Burger at McDonald's Have Been Underwhelming

A BTIG analyst predicts that the McPlant burger will not debut on national menus this year after poor test sales.

Surprising? Perhaps not. BTGI's Peter Saleh writes that the McPlant burger, which debuted in 2020 in small US, Swedish,

Danish, Dutch, Austrian, and U.K. markets, is not as popular as the McRib, Egg McMuffin, or crispy chicken sandwich.

The aim was 40 to 60 McPlant burgers each day in Dallas-Fort Worth, but sales in San Francisco fell short of the 125-300 sandwiches per week estimate.

The plant-based burger sold 70 per day in eight sites in early testing, but it hasn't met expectations, especially outside urban regions..

The McPlant has Beyond Meat, a bun (presumably baked on the same griddle as meat burgers), cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and mayo sauce.

Mickey D's still offers plant-based options, and customers can cross the pond for a McPlant or visit Burger King for the Impossible Whopper

Previously, this item falsely said that McDonald's will debut a vegan McPlant in the US.
