Popular Ice Cream Brand Van Leeuwen Is Recalling Thousands of Pints

One batch of Brown Sugar Chunk French Ice Cream was voluntarily recalled this week due to an undeclared allergen: walnuts.
After receiving a customer complaint, Van Leeuwen determined that certain pints of Brown Sugar Chunk Ice Cream contained walnuts
"The cause of the product labeling error is being investigated," Van Leeuwen announced.
The recall only covers 14-ounce pints of 23P102 ice cream with a best-by date of April 12, 2025. The lot number and best by date are on the bottom
The recall does not affect other Van Leeuwen ice cream items, including Brown Sugar Chunk pints with different lot numbers and best by dates.
Van Leeuwen is known for making high-butterfat, high-quality ice creams, notwithstanding the recall.
The Brooklyn-based firm makes Vanilla Bean and Mint Chip ice cream, as well as some of the strangest flavors in recent years.
Van Leeuwen has made macaroni and cheese ice cream with Kraft and ranch-flavored ice cream with Hidden Valley this year.
