This Airline Is Selling Seats for Its First-ever All-electric Flights
SAS is selling seats for its first all-electric flights in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
On Friday, June 2, the Swedish airline began accepting reservations for the three first flights at 6 a.m. ET.
The 2028 flights will cost 1946 SEK (approximately $125), inspired by SAS's founding year.
"The fact that we can now invite our passengers to the next major milestone in the future of aviation is a natural continuation of that
pioneering spirit and a significant step on our journey toward more sustainable aviation," SAS president and CEO Anko van der Werff told
The airline will sell 30 seats per maiden flight, and passengers can buy up to two. The airline will notify passengers by email of the departure date and location.
SAS's all-electric flight comes as it commits to net-zero emissions by 2050. It also comes as the Swedish government
aims to reach net-zero emissions for domestic flights by 2030 and international flights by 2045, according to the airline.
SAS is not the first to fly electric passenger jets. The Alice aircraft, which can fly 250 miles and carry nine passengers and two crew members, debuted last year.
