Southwest cancels 70% of its flights as travelers try to get home

“Our heartfelt apologies for this are just beginning [sic],” Southwest said Monday.
The airline said it will fly one-third of its schedule, or 1,500 flights, for “several days” to relocate flight crews.
“On the other side of this, we'll work to make things right for those we've let down, including our employees,” the airline said Monday.
TWU Local 556, which represents over 18,000 Southwest Airlines flight attendants, stated Monday that the corporation "has failed its employees once again
The union's statement was not immediately addressed by an airline spokesman on Tuesday.
